Pianist and organist Daeun Kim is an active performer whose work spans solo piano, collaborative piano, and organ performance.

She has appeared in major venues including Carnegie Hall and the Meyerson Symphony Center, and has been invited to perform at distinguished events such as National Concerts, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Conference, and the Texas International Choir Festival. She has also collaborated extensively with professional ensembles, including performances with the Orpheus Chamber Singers.

Dr. Kim has received numerous awards in national and international competitions. She was a prizewinner of the Seoul Orchestra Competition, which led to a concerto performance with orchestra, and has been recognized as a soloist for her refined musicianship and expressive depth. In addition to her solo career, she is an accomplished chamber musician, having performed as a member of a piano trio that earned First Prize at the Music International Grand Prix. These experiences have shaped her artistic identity as a versatile musician equally committed to solo and collaborative performance.

 

Her performance career includes appearances across the United States and South Korea in winners’ concerts, invited recitals, and world premiere performances. Dr. Kim is particularly recognized for her work as a collaborative pianist, performing extensively with vocalists, instrumentalists, and large choral ensembles. Her choral and vocal collaborations reflect a strong sense of ensemble balance, stylistic awareness, and musical communication.

She earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Hanyang University in South Korea and her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in Piano Performance at the University of North Texas. She is currently a Visiting Piano Professor at Tarleton State University.

Alongside her academic and performance career, Dr. Kim maintains an active role as a church musician, serving as both pianist and organist. Her work in sacred music continues to inform her approach to collaboration and performance. Through a balanced career that integrates performance, teaching, and church music, Daeun Kim remains deeply committed to artistic excellence and musical service.
